Shooting position with a longbow  -  by Sigroune

In France we have some questions about the shooting style longbow (IFAA rules). Is face walking allowed or not?

It is not mentioned in the article concerning longbows, but not allowed in the new traditional recurve style.

2005 Article VII E (shooting styles) 7 (longbow)

d only one nocking point allowed…

g. An archer shall touch the arrow when nocked, with the index finger against the nock. Finger position may not be changed during competition. In case of physical deformity or handicap, special dispensation shall be made. (pdf p 20)

2007 Article IV E 7 Longbow

f. Only onenocking point shall be allowed on the string…

h. The bow must be shot with the “Mediterranean“ loose. In cases of physical deformity or handicap special dispensation shall be made.

2017 Article IV E Longbow

f. Only one nocking point shall be allowed on the string, …

h. Arrows shall be of wood, … shall not vary in length by more than 25mm at the start of the competition. … (existe depuis l'édition 2013)

IFAA 2017 Article IV E 9 Traditional Recurve bow

h. The bow must be shot with the “Mediterranean“ loose. A finger tab or glove is permitted.

i. Face walking is not permitted.
